Regular Annual Events

WOW! (Week of Welcome): a whole week of activities to get your year off to a fabulous start!

International Festival: UNC Charlotte’s longest running tradition, held the last Saturday of every September in the Student Activity Center and immediate outside area…food, music, dancing, sights, smells, native costumes and fun! It’s even more fun to be part of the festivities — give a couple hours volunteer time. You’ll be glad you did (and the free T-shirt and lots of “thank-yous” is nice too!)

A Cone A Fair: A fall festival brought to you by the Cone University Center . Held in October. Enjoy food and carnival games.

Murder Mystery : Our Murder Mystery is a chilling opportunity for students with a passion for cold blooded murder … slippery red herrings… diabolical clues… and ingenious detective work to be plopped smack-dab in the middle of the most exhilarating, spine tingling fun they’ve ever had!  This theatrical party is accompanied with a “killer” meal and is truly an experience to die for!

College Bowl: Are you good at trivia? Do you like playing Jeopardy with friends? College Bowl gives you an opportunity to test your wits against other student teams in an academic quiz challenge. Contact Student Activities at (704) 687-2521 for more information about the campus tournament, which takes place each November.

Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration: Join us as we remember one of this country’s great leaders, and honor his contributions. Sponsored by the Multicultural Resource Center, this program is held annually in mid January.

Homecoming: A week’s worth of events that celebrate UNC Charlotte’s spirit, tradition and of course, great basketball! http://homecoming.uncc.edu/

Greek Step Show: This is a wildly popular program you won’t want to miss! Contact either Dean of Students Office or Multicultural Resource Center (704) 687-3865 for more information.

Heritage Week Celebrations: Celebrate and learn about a variety of cultures through these special weeks, sponsored by student organizations and supported through the Multicultural Resource Center. Featured are heritage celebrations such as Latin American and Native American, Black History, Women’s History and others as initiated by student interest. These events occur throughout the year. Contact 704 687 3865 for more information.

Other Fun: There is so much going on at UNC Charlotte that it’s hard to keep track of it all! Fortunately, it’s the job of the Campus Events office to do that for you. Go to their site, http://campusevents.uncc.edu . It’s updated regularly and provides an overview of university wide activities.

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) is the largest student programming organization and is responsible for planning diverse, quality events for the university community. CAB’s Web Site, www.uncc.edu/cab provides a listing of CAB sponsored events, by the week and by the semester. There’s even a place where you can sign up to have them email events listings to you.

Art Gallery: Cone University Center features a main art gallery off McKnight Lobby as well as a side gallery that features UNC Charlotte student art, also off McKnight Lobby. Art is coordinated by a faculty committee and features regional and national artists. Meet artists and do some cultural shmoozing at opening receptions. Displays change regularly during the academic year.

Permanent Art Collection: Cone University Center has a permanent art collection that can be seen in almost all parts of this facility. From student and faculty purchased work (on the Conference level 1st and 2nd floor hallways) to the NC Print and Drawing Society Art Collection (located in McKnight Lobby and the NE Lounge) artwork is throughout Cone University Center for your pleasure.
